a Fun Saturday

Chris and I went our separate ways for the better part of today.  He went to go play airsoft with a bunch of guys at Orange Gorillas (also the home of one of our pastor's relatives).

Chris had a great time, as always, and also ended up getting a little wet today - not on purpose.  You can see that his pants are a little wet...

While Chris was having fun running around shooting people in the woods, I ran some errands and went in search of some items at the thrift store.  (Since being on Pinterest, I've been wanting to do a few projects.)  I came away with the following...

A couple candlesticks that I will probably paint, either to use as candlesticks in the dining room or to use for another decor project.  A cheap mason jar to use for decorating or for use in making a soap dispenser.  And a cool glass piece - I don't know it's original intention but I'm going to use it as a candle holder.

It was my first trip to Goodwill and Salvation Army here in Peoria, but it was good.  It probably won't be my last visit either :) I almost came away with a pair of shoes too but they ended up not working out. 

Now it's time to start dinner so we can watch Something Borrowed tonight!  Hooray for chick flick nights ;)

my mom...

My mom is one of the breakfast ladies at Residence Inn in Joplin. She has to wake up super early and I know sometimes her job is frustrating. But I know that she does a great job serving the hotel guests, getting to know them, and enjoying doing it. (She regularly tells me of various people who she talks with that are staying there.) It was pretty awesome to read this story that a blogger for Chicago Now wrote about her. You can read it here. I love my mom.
